Technofin – For all your rental asset finance needs

Iemas strives to provide excellent products both to our members and participating employer companies. Although we mainly focus on the needs of members (i.e. your employees), we are also actively researching ways in which we can provide more products or services to employers. In this regard, we would like to bring the following to your attention.

During August 2007, Iemas joined forces with Technofin (Pty) Ltd to provide a value-adding service, namely rental finance, to our participating groups. Technofin was established in 1991 as a financial intermediary providing rental finance for moveable assets to various sectors. Since its inception, Technofin has grown to be one of the leading rental asset finance companies in South Africa with branches in Johannesburg, Bloemfontein, Port Elizabeth, East Londen, Cape Town, Durban and Pretoria.

Benefits of rental asset finance:

It allows for the full use of equipment, e.g. large vehicles, fax and copy machines, etc. but does not confer right of ownership.
Rentals are 100% tax deductible as an operating expense and therefore the company’s budget is not affected by capital expenditure constraints.
It allows the user flexibility to upgrade within the rental period or within a fiscal year.
VAT is not capitalised on the agreements but is paid monthly on the rental. This provides valuable savings at the time of upgrading as VAT is only paid for the period in which the equipment is in use.
As a rental is an operating expense, it is not reflected on the balance sheet in any way. The company will show improved liquidity, gearing ratios and return on assets as the investment in fixed assets and contingent liabilities are reduced.
